The Houston Texans have agreed to terms with former Indianapolis Colts linebacker E.J. Speed on a one-year, $5 million deal, NBC Sports reports. kindee1688
Speed has spent the first five seasons of his career in Indianapolis after being selected by the Colts as a fifth-round draft pick in the 2019 draft, starting on special teams before moving to the starting defensive tackle role in the 2023 season and playing alongside Zaire Franklin in 2024.
Speed has appeared in 92 games (32 starts) for his career. He has a career-best 142 tackles in 15 games in the 2024 season, and has also made seven tackles for loss, five pass breakups and one interception.
Speed will join Aziz Shaeer, Henry Tootoo and Christian Harris in the Texans’ linebacker lineup, and the 29-year-old’s all-around presence will be crucial to the Texans’ overall defense. ( kindee1688 )
