Oakland Raiders quarterback Derek Carr has spoken out about his new teammate Jordy Nelson, admitting he was shocked when the Green Bay Packers decided to release the 32-year-old wide receiver before the Raiders claimed Carr, who was warmly welcomed by the team, the East Bay Times reported Monday.  Kodma168

“I can’t say enough good things,” Carr told the East Bay Times about Nelson. “I don’t think Green Bay is going to let him go, but I’m glad he’s here.”

Nelson has been Packers quarterback Aaron Rodgers’ go-to wide receiver since he was drafted in the second round out of Kansas State in 2008. Over the past nine years, the 32-year-old has thrown for 69 touchdowns in 135 games and forced just five fumbles. The decision to let Nelson leave the team has angered Rodgers.

“‘What you hear about him not being able to run more, that’s false,’ Carr said. “I can tell you that he’s one of the fastest guys we’ve got. We can run. You can see that in his route running. If he can beat the route running, defensive backs will be in awe of what he can do at the highest level. He’s still Jordy Nelson, for sure.” ( Kodma168 )
