Kodma168 Jerry Jones says a new deal with Micah Parsons is not urgent and could be delayed like the deals with CeeDee Lamb and Dak Prescott.

Dallas Cowboys owner Jerry Jones says he doesn’t feel pressure or urgency to reach a new deal with Micah Parsons after previously delaying contract talks with CeeDee Lamb and Dak Prescott, NFL Network reports.  Kodma168

“We’re there. I don’t see it as a rush,” Jones said. “Some people say it’s based on the fact that you’ve done something cheaply in the past. You’ve done something early in the past. The longer it takes, the more mistakes you’re going to make. You might want to see a couple more cards in play, not just with that negotiation, but with the whole team. I know I’m being a little bit cautious here, but the idea that the only success is getting a contract in the early stages is wrong.”

‘I’d rather pay more and get it right than pay less and get it worse. You can do it really well. You can go too fast and the athletic ability is wrong. You can get it wrong in the future. You can get a lot of things that are worrisome beforehand. But any contract that’s noteworthy, as you know, takes two deals. But more importantly, nine times out of 10, if I wanted to close it, I would have closed it. And we didn’t do it because I was looking for other cards to play.’

Last year, the Cowboys waited until late August to sign wide receiver CeeDee Lamb to a four-year, $136 million deal and waited until the start of the season to sign Dak Prescott to a new four-year, $260 million deal. 

Parsons will earn $24.007 million in the fifth year of his contract, and the 25-year-old linebacker has the opportunity to sign a new deal for a bigger payday, similar to Myles Garrett, who is getting $40 million per year from the Cleveland Browns, and Ja’Mar Chase, who is getting $40.25 million per year from the Cincinnati Bengals.  

However, Jones has revealed he spoke directly to Parsons about the new deal, not his agent David Muluketa. ‘I’m the one who has to sign the cheque and Micah is the one who has to accept it. That’s the most direct way to get there is to sign the cheque and the person who agrees to the discussions and that’s the money involved here. 

‘I know I spent five or six hours with him myself and had a lot of discussions. Most of the issues, we agreed. I discussed everything. Obviously we have no agreements related to a new contract. Under the contract, we will see how it goes. It is not unusual for me to visit the player directly. In this case, that’s how I did it. ‘

Parsons took to social media shortly afterwards to post: ‘Facts!! David is the best and I will not do any deal without David Muluketa involved!’ ( Kodma168 )

‘Like anyone with a good sense of humor, I hire experts for reasons that no one can trust more when it comes to contract negotiations. David, there will be no hiding anything in this contract negotiation.’
