BBC, a British media outlet, reported that Lewis is about to move to play for the famous Brazilian club Sao Paulo, although it has not been confirmed by Newcastle United, but it came from the revelation of Michael O’Neill, the manager of the Northern Ireland national team.

“Jamal plans to join us later this week after completing his visa application and medical in Brazil. We wish him the best of luck with his new move to Sao Paulo,” O’Neill said.

For Lewis, he moved from Norwich City to Newcastle for £15m in 2020 and has made just 36 appearances in all competitions so far. Last season, he was loaned out to Watford, where he made 38 appearances in all competitions, 36 of which were in the Championship.

Lewis, who has made 36 appearances for Ireland, has yet to feature for Eddie Howe’s side at the start of the season, with the boss admitting the 26-year-old left-back could leave the club despite most European markets having closed. ( pgzen )
