The Hammers had 31 chances but managed just one in stoppage time through Niklas Füllkrug, while the Foxes had eight but were more clinical and gave new head coach Ruud van Nistelrooy three points and are now just two points behind Julen’s side. 

The Spanish coach’s situation is not good. He refused to respond to the Hammers’ fans who shouted curses – You’ll definitely be fired tomorrow morning – and asked to go back to do homework to improve his performance in the next match. 

“As a head coach, I don’t realize what’s happening around me when I’m focused on the game. So I can’t comment on that (fan cursing).” He said after the game at King Power Stadium. 

“My only concern is how we turn around the situation we are in.” 

“Of course I believe in the players – in football terms it was a good game, but in terms of the score, no.”  

“In this regard, we need to improve, be effective in the opponent’s penalty area and be consistent. I repeat, I am confident that we can achieve that goal.”

Lopetegui has four more games to prove himself, against Wolves ( home ), Bournemouth ( away ), Brighton ( home ) and Southampton ( away ). If he doesn’t recover, there’s a high chance he’ll be fired so that former FC Porto head coach Sergio Conceicao can replace him.   ( thaisiambet )
