Seattle Seahawks head coach Mike McDonald believes his team can be better than it is today after a strong start to the season, winning its first three games after beating the Miami Dolphins 24-3 at home over the weekend, NFL Network reports.  ( pgzen )

McDonald is off to a great start as head coach, leading the Seahawks to a 3-0 start to the 2024 season, Seattle’s best start since 2020, and he’s the first head coach in franchise history to start a season 3-0 in his first year on the job.

“We’re in a good position to do enough to win every game we play,” MacDonald said. “There are a lot of good stories on tape, but we’re just getting started with this team, and we’re becoming the team that we are, and everybody knows that.”

‘When you watch the tape, it’s obvious where we need to improve and where we have opportunities to improve. It’s like, ‘Let’s take advantage of this opportunity.’ We have an opportunity to learn a lot about ourselves, how we grow in our performance throughout the week, how we prepare, and how we can get better.’

‘We’re so early in the season that we’re in a good position, obviously better than the other side and we’re excited about that, but there’s also a sense of urgency about where this football team needs to go.’

The Seahawks became the first team since the Pittsburgh Steelers in 1979 to start 3-0 and allow fewer than 150 yards through the first three games of a season. The Steelers finished the season 12-4 and went on to win the Super Bowl.

But MacDonald’s team faces its toughest test yet as the Seahawks travel to the Detroit Lions on Monday.
