New England Patriots head coach Jarrod Mayo insists he’s not worried about losing Matt Judon after trading the 32-year-old edge rusher for a third-round pick in the 2025 draft from the Atlanta Falcons, NFL Network reports. ( wilson88 )

‘You guys know how I feel about Judon and he’s obviously moving on. I feel like it’s a win-win situation for both sides and I really wish him all the best. I always tell them this is a long-term relationship and nothing is going to change.’ 

“We’ve gone through a number of years without a top rusher like Chandler Jones or Judon, but we’ve been able to create a pass rush through our acrobatics and our game plan,” Mayo said. “It’s not going to be just one guy. It’s hard to sit here and say one guy can replace Matthew Judon on the field and off the field, but I think we’ve got a good group of guys ready to step up and be in that position.”

Judon played in just four games last season before an injury sidelined him, while 25-year-old defensive tackle Christian Barmore, currently out with a blood clot, leads the team with 8.5 sacks in 2023. Linebacker Javon Bentley and defensive end Dietrich Wise Jr. are tied for 4.5 sacks each.

Mayo expects Wise, Keon White, Josh Uche and Anfernee Jenkins to fill the void left by Judon in the 2024 season.
