Real Madrid said in a statement on Thursday that Mbappe had suffered acute gastroenteritis and was admitted to hospital for a series of tests.

Gastroenteritis is an infection of the intestines that can cause vomiting and diarrhea.

Los Blancos’ next game is against Pachuca on Sunday.

There is no indication yet whether Mbappe will be available to play in the game.

Mbappe has scored 43 goals in 56 games in all competitions for Real Madrid in his first season since joining on a free transfer from Paris Saint-Germain.
