Buffalo Bills head coach Sean McDermott came under fire for his decisions in a game-handling spree that led to their 20-23 loss to the Houston Texans on Sunday, but admitted it was his fault, NFL Network reports.  ( wilson88 )

With the game tied 20-20, McDermott called all three plays, with Josh Allen missing all three of his career-worst throws and having to punt at the Houston 41. With 0.21 seconds remaining, the Texans were able to get a 59-yard field goal by C.J. Stroud to set up Kaimie Fairburn for a 23-20 win. 

‘Tough situation, three plays,’ McDormott said. ‘They got three breaks, they got good field goal takers, we had to manage the clock and we didn’t, and that’s my fault.’

Allen completed just 9 of 30 passes for 131 yards and one touchdown, but McDermott was obsessed with making plays, especially in crucial late-game moments, and didn’t bother killing time by running the ball.

‘When you talk about three timeouts, they have a very strong field goal-taker. We know the potential is if you run three in a row, you can run six seconds each time. You could be in a similar situation. So either way, we have to do a better job, and that starts with me, 100 percent.’

Asked if he agreed with offensive coordinator Joe Brady’s three-and-out play, McDermott said: “I’m not going to talk about that. I don’t think that’s relevant right now. Overall, that’s my fault. We just have to do a better job. I have to do a better job in that situation.”
