McDonald’s reveals Seahawks are only improving some areas Lisbon365

Seattle Seahawks head coach Mike MacDonald has revealed he may have to cut some pieces for the rest of the season to focus on areas of improvement, Seattle Sports Radio reports. 

The Seahawks got off to a hot start at 3-0 before losing four of their last five games to drop to 4-4 and lose their lead in the NFC West. MacDonald’s first eight games as head coach 

“I think you have to start making decisions about where you want to narrow it down. You can’t focus on everything,” MacDonald said. “So once you’ve identified what we feel are the lost costs, maybe try to cut that out and then focus on what we want to do to be particularly good at. Those are the areas where I feel like there might be opportunities that we’re not capitalizing on right now, and the areas where we feel like we’re doing well, we can try to build a little bit on that.”

MacDonald started the season wanting to install everything in all three areas (offense, defense and special teams), but now he’s just focused on getting his team to play fast and agile.

‘Maybe a lot less now and just have to get better,’ the 37-year-old head coach said, before adding: ‘It’s frustrating, you know you have something that you can help with but the final answer is not the X and O factors. It’s not.’ 

‘For the offensive team, I think one thing that gives us an advantage is that we can move, change shape and change tempo, so I think that’s something we have to focus on and we will do that.’ 

‘On defense and on the field, I thought we did some good things, but it seems a little hot and cold right now compared to the overall situation. The red zone record and the third down play last game (were bad), but overall I feel like we’ve improved a lot in those areas.’ ( Lisbon365  )
