    The Gunners have struggled without the Norwegian midfielder in recent weeks but have improved significantly since his return, with Merson suggesting Odegaard is just as important to City as Rodri.

    Asked on Sky Sports if Arsenal were back to their best, Merson said: “Yes, in the last two games.”

    “They were brilliant against Nottingham Forest when they needed to, they just dropped into second gear but they were brilliant.”

    “Great performances with Sporting Lisbon, Martin Ogard made the difference – we talk about Man City and Rodri, it’s like Odegaard who makes things happen.”
