After Onana suggested United were much better than Lyon as the two teams prepare to meet in the Europa League quarter-finals on Thursday.
Former Manchester United midfielder Matic, who now plays for Lyon, has hit back, labelling Onana as the worst goalkeeper in the history of the modern Red Devils.
Onana recently tweeted in a seemingly direct response to Matic, saying that he had at least won a major trophy with the club, unlike the Serbian midfielder who has yet to win a major trophy during his time at Old Trafford.
“I never disrespect any other club. We know that tomorrow (Thursday) will be a difficult game against a strong opponent,” Onana said.
“We are focused on preparing for a performance that will make our fans proud.”
“At least I’ve lifted trophies with the biggest clubs in the world (FA Cup with Manchester United), but some people can’t say that.”
moodeng For Matic, he made 128 appearances for the Red Devils between 2017 and 2022, while Onana joined from Inter Milan for £47.2m in 2023. ( moodeng )
