‘This was a great game, we know what they are capable of, we know how many times they have won this competition and we are ready for this challenge and ready to go to the semi-finals,’ Raya said. ‘We have to keep playing like we have done so far and defending like we always do. We have to win this game and make it a little bit easier when we go to the Bernabeu. ‘

The Spanish goalkeeper also stressed the importance of winning at the Emirates Stadium, saying: ‘The game at the Bernabeu will be a very long game, as they say, but if we do what we have to do, we will have a good chance.’

Arsenal will be without a number of key players tomorrow, with Gabriel Magalhaes set to be ruled out for the rest of the season after suffering a hamstring injury.

‘We have a lot of injuries, we have a lot of centre-backs, but the team is ready, they know what to do, that’s why there’s not much difference when we change the defence, it shows the flexibility of the team.’

‘(William) Saliba and Gabriel are one of the best centre-back pairings in football but we all have to be at our best to stop Madrid.’
