Former New Orleans Saints head coach Sean Payton told USA Today Sports on Tuesday that he would consider a return to the NFL in the future if the right team were available in the 2023 season.  ( mungmee168 ) 

Peyton has been the Saints’ head coach since 2006 before stepping down after last season, having led the Saints to three NFC Championship appearances, one championship, and a Super Bowl appearance, but the 58-year-old has said he would be open to returning for the 2023 season if the right team is in place.

‘Ultimately, do I think I’ll get back in? Absolutely,’ Peyton said. ‘There’s no way to predict the club. Usually, there are about six teams a year. If it’s a good fit, it ultimately depends on a lot of factors.’

Of course, factors include the appeal of the time period and personal preference. Peyton also has to convince any team to pay the Saints a price for retaining the 58-year-old head coach through 2024.

But in the meantime, Peyton has expressed his readiness to spend time working on Fox Sports’ NFL coverage in the 2022 season.

‘I’m very excited about Fox and working with the team. It’s going to be a great experience. I’m looking forward to being on the other side.’
