mungmee168 The Baltimore Ravens plan to negotiate a contract extension with Derrick Henry in the near future, the Ravens’ GM has revealed.
Baltimore Ravens general manager Eric DeCosta said Derrick Henry’s contract situation is still under consideration but could happen after the 2025 draft in late April, NFL Network reports. mungmee168
Henry signed a two-year, $16 million deal through the 2024 offseason. He rushed 325 times for 1,921 yards and scored a league-high 16 touchdowns in his first season in Baltimore, a deal that would be a significant valuation for the Ravens, who plan to offer the 31-year-old running back a new deal.
‘We’ve got a lot of balls in the air right now,’ DeCosta said. ‘That’s probably what I’ll talk about. I’m not going to talk about what we’re doing (or) what we haven’t done behind the scenes in a business sense with them. I don’t think it’s a good idea for me to do that.’
‘But I will say that outside of the draft, as everyone knows, we’re looking at the players that are available, the free agents. We’re looking to re-sign some of our players. We’re fortunate to have a lot of really good players and we’re going to try to retain as many of them as possible. It’s a challenge.’
With the 2025 draft coming up next week, the Ravens have no real momentum in negotiating a new contract with Henry, but it could happen in July or August during training camp. An extension for the 31-year-old running back would also make sense. ( mungmee168 )
