The Senegalese defender has been linked with a move to Lyon, with the Ligue 1 giants reportedly set to splash the cash on Nottingham Forest this summer.

According to reports from France, Lyon have agreed to pay a fee of €31.9 million to the Foresters, making Niakate instantly Lyon’s most expensive player.

It has been a summer of serious reinforcement for OL, with the former Ligue 1 giants recently announcing the permanent signings of Orel Mangala and Saeed Benrahma after both were loaned out earlier this year.

The main factor is that the club is preparing to play in Europe in the 2024/25 season, which means that they need to strengthen their team, as well as improve their competition in the next season and aim for a Champions League quota.
