Peterson signed a two-year, $14 million contract with the Steelers last offseason. He is due to earn $9.78 million against the cap in 2024, but Pittsburgh will save $6.85 million if they release the veteran cornerback.

However, the 33-year-old winger believes the versatility and preparedness he has shown will allow him to play in Pittsburgh for another season.

‘I feel great, Coach (Mike) Tomlin and I had a great conversation after the season,’ Peterson said. ‘Obviously, I know you have to be evaluated in the draft and Free A. Agent and stuff like that, but for me, what I was able to do in Year 13, playing different positions. Stepping into a new environment’
