pgzen The Baltimore Ravens saved nearly $5 million after restructuring the contract with veteran linebacker Roquan Smith.

Baltimore Ravens general manager Eric DeCosta said the Ravens have restructured the contract of 27-year-old linebacker Roquan Smith, saving $4.875 million in salary-cap space, ESPN reports. pgzen

The Ravens traded Smith from the Chicago Bears midway through the 2022 season and handed him a five-year, $60 million contract with $100 million guaranteed. He has 244 tackles, 3.5 sacks and two interceptions in 25 games since moving to Baltimore. 

DeCosta confirmed last week that the Ravens would have to work on their salary cap, saying, “We have some flexibility to work on it, and next week we will work on our salary cap.”

‘There are a lot of things we can do. We are quite conservative. We are in a better position at the top and we will have a good plan.’
