The Miami Dolphins will be without Jaelan Phillips for the rest of the season after the 25-year-old edge rusher suffered a knee injury and underwent surgery to reconstruct his cruciate ligament, but should be ready for the start of next season, NFL Network’s Ian Rapoport reports. ( wilson88 )

It was Phillips’ second season-ending injury in just 10 months, with the 25-year-old edge rusher tearing his Achilles tendon during a Black Friday win over the New York Jets on Nov. 23, 2023.

Phillips recovered from the injury and was taken off the PUP list on Aug. 12, returning to the starting lineup for the start of the 2024 season before the 25-year-old was sent to the injured list four weeks later with a knee injury that required surgery. He had six tackles, two QB pressures, two pass breakups and one sack.

Throughout his career, he has combined for 23 sacks and 54 QB pressures in 46 games and 29 starts with the Dolphins.

The former first-round pick in the 2021 draft class is entering the fifth and final year of his rookie contract, but undergoing two major injuries may not be doing Phillips any favors. But the edge rusher is looking on the bright side.
