The Chicago Bulls are set to bring back 32-year-old center Nikola Vucevic to a three-year deal before the Montenegrin player becomes an unrestricted free agent at the end of June, Chicago Sun-Times reporter Joe Cowley reported Saturday.

Vucevic is averaging 18.2 points and 11.1 rebounds in 181 games with the Bulls. The 32-year-old center is averaging 17.6 points, 11.0 rebounds and 3.2 assists this season, shooting 52 percent from the field, 34.9 percent from three-point range, 83.5 percent from free throws and ranking third in the NBA in double-doubles (51). 

“A rebuilding project is not an option, according to (Arturas) Karnichovas (executive vice president of basketball operations), which seems to be a good path to continuity,” Cowley wrote. “The organization is content to hold out hope for Lonzo Ball’s miraculous recovery from three surgeries on his left knee, while negotiations on a contract extension for Nikola Vucevic began last week. The Bulls are looking to lock down the big man for the next three years.” player1688
