player1688 John Lynch admits Ricky Piersall has made an incredible recovery from a chest shot, but the rookie wide receiver will have some time to recover before he can return.

San Francisco 49ers general manager John Lynch said it was a miracle Ricky Piersall recovered from being shot in an attempted robbery on Saturday, and the rookie first-round draft pick is expected to return to action this season when the time is right, NFL Network reports. player1688

‘Yes,’ Lynch replied when asked if he was confident Piersall would recover this season. ‘He’s recovered remarkably well. It’s a bit of a strange thing. It’s not every day that you have to go through something like this.’

Piersall, 23, was shot in the chest and exited through the back during an attempted robbery at Union Square in San Francisco on Saturday. He was taken to a hospital and released the next day. 

At the time of the shooting, the Forty-Nines had also planned a team party. Despite the horrific event, Piersall still thinks about the celebration and his teammates.

“When I got to the hospital and visited Ricky, the first thing he said was, ‘Mr. Lynch, what’s going on? I really want you all to go to that party, and I want to talk to my teammates,'” Lynch said. “We had a great time. We were able to invite Ricky to the party, and he FaceTimed everybody in the group. That show of love and respect was a really special moment for our team.”

Lynch also addressed the decision to place Piersall on the non-football injury list, which will see the 23-year-old wide receiver miss the first four games of the 2024 season, saying: ‘We had to move quickly on this decision. I wish we had more time, but at the end of the day, we felt the most important thing we had to consider was Ricky’s well-being, physically, emotionally and mentally. ‘

‘Ultimately, we decided that the best thing for Ricky was to take some time off. He needs time to recover physically and mentally, and we made that decision. When we drafted Ricky, we did it for the long term, and Ricky is going to be a great player here.’  ( player1688 )
