Miami Dolphins linebacker Jaelan Phillips is hoping to make a comeback and continue his impressive career after recovering from a ruptured Achilles tendon in late November, NFL Network reports.  player1688

Of the Dolphins’ six players with two or more sacks last season, only three will play in Week 1 of the 2024 season on the roster after Christian Wilkins and Andrew Van Ginkel signed with the Las Vegas Raiders and Minnesota Vikings, respectively. 

With Bradley Chubb set to miss at least the first four games after being placed on the unavailable list, that leaves defensive tackle Zach Zieler (10 sacks), linebacker Emmanuel Ogbah (5.5 sacks) and Phillips (6.5 sacks) until the latter suffered a torn Achilles tendon in November. 

For Phillips, he is trying to recover from his serious injury and is determined to get back on the pitch as much as possible.

“Hopefully it doesn’t go down like that again,” Phillips said. “Hopefully we can go out there and do our thing, but either way, I’m here to do whatever they need me to do. Obviously, I’m going to try to play as hard as I can, but at the end of the day, I’ve got to be smarter. It’s a long season, so we’ll see.”

Phillips has been stepping up alongside Ogbah and rookie first-round pick Choi Robinson since the 26-year-old was removed from the PUP list on Aug. 12, and while he hasn’t played in any preseason games, he’s confident he can add to his game.

“I never set a sack goal,” Phillips said. “I just want to create chaos and make plays. I know I’m a 10-plus sack guy. I know I can go out there and create chaos for quarterbacks, stop the run, do whatever I need to do for this team. So the numbers will go down when they go down, but I’m going to go out there and do my best.”  ( player1688 )
