Peters has been undrafted since 2004 and has played for the Buffalo Bills, Philadelphia Eagles and Chicago Bears. Despite his 40s, he still wants to play in the NFL and is waiting to hear offers before training camp begins in late July.
“I’m looking for an up-and-coming offensive line on a good team or a playoff team,” Peters said. “Either way is good for me because I can teach or listen and learn from other experienced players in the game as well.”
Peters could be another option as a veteran tackle who’s ready to play right away, even if he’s not the premium player he once was, as was the case in the 2021 season when the Bears signed Peters in mid-August after rookie offensive tackle Teven Jenkins underwent back surgery. The 40-year-old played in 15 games for the Bears at left tackle.
“I don’t have a time frame,” Peters said. “When the opportunity comes, I’ll try again, try to get me another ring or pass some knowledge on to a young guy who’s coming up. But I don’t have a time frame on when I sign. Last year, it was two and a half weeks into training camp. When the time comes, I’ll be ready.”
