McCoy was the offensive coordinator for the Denver Broncos for five seasons, first from 2009-12 and again from 2017. He also served as the head coach of the Chargers from 2013-16.

Holcomb was the Carolina Panthers’ linebackers coach for five seasons, during which time Wilk was an assistant coach before moving up to defensive coordinator last year. The Cardinals also hired Jeff Rodgers as special teams coach after three years with the Chicago Bears.

“You talk about a league that’s very much about throwing, and I agree with that, but I also believe you have to have a ground game foundation as well. As a former defensive backs coach, there’s nothing that can upset you more than the run game. So that’s going to be our foundational work. When you look at some of the top running backs in the NFL, we have one of them in (David) Johnson,” Wilks said of McCoy, a 45-year-old veteran who is a groundskeeper. ( popslot )
