New York Jets owner Woody Johnson hopes to resolve his contract dispute with Hason Reddick by inviting the 30-year-old edge rusher to the team’s practice facility to work out the issue following the firing of head coach Robert Saleh, ESPN reports. popslot

“‘Hason, get in your car, drive down 95 and come to the New York Jets and we’ll meet you and take you right to the building,’ Johnson said during a Zoom call with players to discuss Saleh’s release. “You’re going to fit in here. You’re going to love it here. You’re going to feel welcome here and you’re going to have a great success with us.”

Johnson’s off-the-cuff comments about Reddick come at a tumultuous time in Gotham City, which came as little surprise, but the Jets owner remains hopeful the edge-rusher will return to the Jets at some point.

The Jets traded Reddick from the Philadelphia Eagles in late March as he sought a new deal as he entered the final year of his $14.25 million contract, but haven’t gotten a response until the 30-year-old decided to hold out until now. 

However, Johnson admitted that the situation has never happened to him in his 25 years as Jets owner, saying, “This is something I’ve never seen before, you know, and you’ve had more years than I have.”

‘I don’t think we’ve ever seen anything like this before. I think you have to be a psychologist and a psychoanalyst to try and figure out what’s going on. I hope this young man can join the team.’

‘When he gets here, he’ll find a welcome change of pace and he’ll fit right in. But he has to come here first.’  ( popslot )
