“Even though we warned the fans, I think it’s hard to take, even if you hear it,” Lynch said. “I think it shows how good our team is. We have a lot of talent, and we’ve got a lot of talent and a lot of players.”
The 49ers have agreed to trade veteran wide receiver Deebo Samuel to the Washington Commanders, while guard Aaron Blank, cornerback Charverius Ward, safety Talanua Hoofunga and linebacker Dre Greenlaw hit free agency.
‘We had to get the team younger and we had to get the players a little bit cheaper because we had some plans about what we wanted to do with our core and obviously our quarterback. And there were some twists and turns, but we executed the plan that we wanted to do and we’re very excited about everything that’s happened.’
The loss of several veterans has given the 49ers enough money to sign quarterback Brock Purdy to a new contract, as well as extensions for linebacker Fred Warner and tight end George Kittle, before filling some spots with rookies.
‘I’m not too comfortable with it,’ Lynch admitted. ‘And you have to understand that you’re working on a plan, and I think when you have that, when you have a process, it makes things easier. But there are still unknowns.’
The 49ers added 11 players from the draft, and several will have immediate impact, especially defensive linemen Michael Williams and Alfred Collins from the first and second rounds. ( popslot )
