Desai began his coaching career in the NFL as the Bears’ defensive quality coach from 2013-2018, moving up to safety as safety coach from 2019-2020, and becoming defensive coordinator in 2021. But he worked in that position for only one season. He then moved to work as a head coach and defensive assistant for the Seattle Seahawks in 2022.
The Eagles hired Desai to take over as defensive coach for the 2023 season after Jonathan Gannon moved to take over as head coach of the Arizona Cardinals, but the 40-year-old coach was fired by the team. Li was relieved of his position after last season.
