Borussia Dortmund CEO Lars Ricken has revealed that 28-year-old striker Seru Girassi is close to being fit and will return to action soon, Bild reported on Tuesday.

Girassi joined Borussia Dortmund from Stuttgart for €18.5 million but the 28-year-old forward picked up a knee injury while playing for Guinea and is now recuperating for his debut with the Black and Yellows, with Ricken confirming the new striker will be back soon.

‘He’s on time but we’ve got some time to go. We’ve signed him for the long term, he’s doing rehab with a lot of awareness and he’s very professional. We expect him to be back in September but he can still play,’ Ricken said of Girassi. 

Girassi could return to the pitch in Borussia Dortmund’s home game against Heidenheim after the international break on September 14, or possibly in an away game against his former club Stuttgart the following week. ( thaisiambet )
