The Houston Rockets are set to trade 20-year-old forward Cam Whitmore, the former No. 20 pick in the 2023 draft, for two second-round draft picks from the Washington Wizards, ESPN reports.
Whitmore has had limited playing time with the Rockets, and the deal will give the talented 20-year-old forward a chance to play in a larger role with the rebuilding Wizards. Since Whitmore is a Maryland native, the trade would move him closer to home.
The Wizards had a busy offseason, having acquired veteran guard CJ McCallum and center Kelly Olynyk from the New Orleans Pelicans in exchange for guard Jordan Poole and wing Saddick Bey, and selected Texas guard Tre Johnson with the fifth overall pick in last month’s draft.
The Rockets, meanwhile, have agreed to trade star player Kevin Durant from the Phoenix Suns, as well as signing wing Dorian Finney-Smith and center Clint Capela from free agency. Superheng1688
