The 18-year-old has been linked with a move to the Citizens since the January transfer window on a four-and-a-half-year deal worth £12.5m, which could rise to £21.7m in bonuses, with the club having decided to loan him out to former club River Plate before officially arriving at the Etihad Stadium in January 2025.
According to Romano, City have the highly-rated youngster in their plans for the rest of the season and have no plans to loan him out despite interest from a number of clubs, including current club River Plate.
Echeverri will be part of Pep Guardiola’s first-team squad and, if he impresses, could feature in the second half of the season amid a squad that currently has injury concerns including Rodri, Oscar Bobb, Kevin De Bruyne, Neremy Doku, Jack Grealish, Savinho, Manuel Akanji and Josko Guardiola out.
