wintime999 Chris Olaf set to see a head injury specialist after New Orleans Saints wide receiver suffers second concussion of the season wintime999
The New Orleans Saints plan to send wide receiver Chris Olaf, 24, to a specialist for his second concussion this season, ESPN reports.
Olaf was hit in the head by Carolina Panthers safety Xavier Woods while trying to catch a pass during Sunday’s game, before the 24-year-old wide receiver collapsed to the ground and received first aid before being taken to a hospital for further check-ups before returning to New Orleans with his teammates.
‘Thank God, keep the faith and don’t let anyone tell you what you can and can’t do,’ Olaf posted on his Instagram account. ‘The world is a lot worse than what you’ve been through, so be thankful for what you’ve been given before it’s taken from you. Hard times don’t last forever.’
Darren Rizzi, who replaced ousted Dennis Allen, said the Saints will take Olaf on a day-to-day basis to make the best move for the 24-year-old wide receiver.
‘He wanted to thoroughly examine the whole process and make sure it was the best decision for Chris Olaf, taking football out of the equation. What’s the best decision for a person?’ Rizzi said.
‘In talking to him and our medical team, we had a very detailed discussion and his family had a very detailed discussion about the process. I am completely supportive. I have five kids and if it were one of my kids, I would want the same.’
Olaf has suffered four concussions since entering the league as a first-round draft pick in the 2022 class and twice this season. It’s similar to the issues Miami Dolphins quarterback Tua Tagovailoa has had, which have required multiple visits with specialists, so the Saints will treat the 24-year-old wide receiver in the same manner.
‘We’re concerned about Chris Olaf as a person and want to make sure everything is OK. Once he’s gone through that process, we’ll get him back into football and see if he’s fit in. When I say day-to-day, it sounds like a coach’s talk. He’s going to see a specialist and we’ll take that step.’ ( wintime999 )
