The Arizona Cardinals have reached an agreement with Kyler Murray on a five-year, $230.5 million extension with $160 million guaranteed, NFL Network reported Thursday.

Murray has made it clear since February that he wanted a long-term deal from the Cardinals, but it has become a point of contention between the two sides, as the 24-year-old quarterback wanted a bigger contract but Arizona still needed him to prove he was worth the money in the long run, particularly with questions about his maturity. However, the two sides eventually reached an agreement.
The deal runs through the 2028 season, when Murray will be 31, and the young quarterback will be the NFL’s second-highest-paid player with an average annual salary of $46.1 million.
Murray’s new deal also sets a new market standard for a quarterback, who earns $46.1 million per year, which could impact new contract negotiations between the Baltimore Ravens and Lamar Jackson, who is expected to earn around $230 million on a similar five-year deal.
