New York Jets head coach Robert Saleh revealed Wednesday that 27-year-old quarterback Mike White will start in place of Zach Wilson for Sunday’s game against the Chicago Bears, while also confirming that the second-year quarterback still has a future with the Gang Green but will need to rest to reset, NFL Network reports. Wilson, the No. 2 overall pick in the 2021 draft, will be dropped for Sunday’s Week 12 game against the Bears after Saleh confirmed White, the 27-year-old quarterback, will start with veteran wide receiver Joe Flacco as his backup. Wilson will not be involved in the game.
“The big thing that I want to make sure I say is just to make sure you guys listen to this very carefully. Zach’s career is not over,” Saleh said. “I know that’s a narrative. I know that’s what everybody wants to shout out and that’s not even close to the case. The intent, the full intent is to make sure that Zach gets back on the field this year.”
‘When that happens, I make a decision. I take it one day at a time. The biggest thing for Zack is the same thing we talked about, which is that the young man needs a reset.
