The Seahawks decided to change head coach for the first time in 14 years after bringing in McDonald, the 36-year-old former defensive backs coach of the Baltimore Ravens, to take over from Carroll as head coach. The 72-year-old was promoted to an advisory role and hired Ryan Grubb and Eden Durdy to take care of the offensive and defensive teams respectively. This is Grubb’s first time working in the NFL, while Durdy has never worked as a defensive backs coach before. ( cosmo365 )
With a new staff that is less experienced than the Carroll era, many are considering it as a step back for the Seahawks in 2024, but Schneider is confident that won’t be the case.
‘I don’t feel like it’s a step backwards at all,’ Schneider said of the changes to the Seahawks’ coaching staff.
Schneider understands the thought process behind predicting a rebuilding season with a new coaching staff. The Seahawks general manager believes the new philosophy, coaching methods and game plan will help cultivate a long-lasting competitor.
‘I think from open communication. How it passed I don’t see many obstacles to success on the field. I saw what people would think. People will have to adapt. Yes, everyone will have to adapt. But everyone has to adjust every year. And if you don’t adjust You’ll fall behind.’
