Borussia Dortmund coach Nuri Šahin has hailed Pascal Gross as the influential player his side have been since joining from Brighton in the summer, during a press conference ahead of Tuesday’s Champions League clash with Celtic.  ( vox888 )

‘We are very happy that he is with us, his influence on our game is very clear. Pascal has achieved everything we have wanted so far,’ Şahin hailed his players in front of the media.

As Gross spoke about his start to his career at Borussia Dortmund and his role in Šahin’s side after receiving praise from his boss, 

“It’s true. I have a responsibility to balance things out, but I’m the one who says, ‘We have to play defense and offense together.’ I’m still trying to learn everything. I know we have to improve. We want to play better, but we still have to win. That’s our goal.”

The 33-year-old midfielder also spoke about his first Champions League appearance at Signal Iduna Park, saying: ‘It’s very special for me. The fans have helped us in the last two or three home games, they are what makes the club special for me. The Champions League is a big highlight, I’m really looking forward to it.’
