Tyler Lockett says he’s ready for a new challenge as a wide receiver for the Tennessee Titans after spending the first decade of his career with the Seattle Seahawks before being released this offseason, NFL Network reports. ( sqgame555 )
Lockett signed a one-year, $4 million deal with the Titans. The 32-year-old brings experience to Tennessee’s wide receivers, catching the ball from rookie QB Cam Ward.
“I’m so excited,” Lockett said. “I’ve been here 10 years, and now it’s a new atmosphere, a new building. You’re learning everybody’s names and you’re trying to (figure out) how you’re going to fit in there. But being a Titan now is exciting. My dad told me it’s refreshing to go to a new place because it challenges you and you learn new ways. I’m looking forward to what’s next.”
Lockett has 49 catches for 600 yards and two touchdowns in 17 games in the 2024 season, which is below his averages over the previous six seasons of 79 catches for 1,030 yards and eight touchdowns, and the 32-year-old wide receiver said he is willing to sacrifice some of his performance for the good of the team.
“I understand the politics of the game. I understand that sometimes there are things you have to do as a wide receiver so you can get the ball,” Lockett said. “But there’s a lot that people don’t see about what the team wants to do and what the team needs, which is leadership roles or selfless character or things like that.”
‘Sometimes it’s not about the stats, it’s about how we build each other up. So for me, I sacrificed a lot of things last year (in Seattle) for the betterment of the team, and I believe that’s what you want to do to help the team perform at its best.’
