The Panthers have agreed to a deal with Granger to develop him into an NFL wide receiver, following Fant, the last former basketball player to make the switch to the NFL as an offensive tackle in 2016 with the Seattle Seahawks.

Fant planned to start a player acquisition business to identify, train and mentor players he believed could make the transition from basketball to football, and Granger was the first player he signed. 

“I had an idea of ​​what I was looking for,” Fant said. “Then I started looking at some stats that I thought I could apply to football. So I started looking at rebounding, blocks. Those are the things I thought I could apply to football. You have to be a physical player to be able to get offensive rebounds and understand that you know how to use your body.”

“This is a program where we help college basketball players make the transition to football,” Fant added. “I think the cool thing about this program is that it’s not just players who can reach out to me and join the program, it’s hand-selected, hand-picked. I think these are the players who can really make the transition.”

‘It’s a little bit of a shame that I don’t get all the players, but I think that takes away from the specialness of the program, and obviously from my experience, being able to evaluate these players, I think that takes away from that.’
