Carolina Panthers general manager Dan Morgan has revealed the need to improve the team’s poor defense in 2024 as a top priority in order to get back to where it needs to be next season, NFL Network reports. sudpung168

“I think you’re going to pick an inside linebacker, you’re going to pick an outside linebacker, you’re going to pick a safety and obviously we’re going to pick another cornerback,” Mordan said. “So there’s a lot of kinks to work out. It’s not going to happen overnight, but I think as we get through free agency and the draft, I think everything’s going to start to fall into place and the puzzle’s going to become a little clearer.”

Addressing the interior defense makes sense for the Panthers, who gave up 3,057 rushing yards last season, third-most all-time, while giving up an average of 179.8 yards per game after losing 26-year-old defensive end Derrick Brown to a Week 1 injury.

Part of the Panthers’ defensive problems stem from their investment in building an offensive team under former 2023 No. 1 draft pick Bryce Young over the past two seasons.  ( sudpung168 )
