The Chicago Bears agreed to a one-year deal with veteran cornerback Tavon Young, 28, a former player for the Baltimore Ravens, on Monday, NBC Sports Chicago reported.

Young entered the league as a fourth-round draft pick in the 2016 class and has played his entire professional career with the Ravens. He played in all 17 games last season and 14 in 2020 after missing the entire 2019 season with multiple injuries. The 28-year-old cornerback also missed the entire 2017 season with a torn ACL.
However, if Young is healthy, he will be the Ravens’ starting cornerback. His play was so reliable that he was signed to a three-year, $25.8 million contract by Baltimore after the 2018 season, before becoming a free agent and moving to a one-year deal with the Bears.
In 50 career games, Young has 16 pass breakups, four interceptions, three fumble recoveries and two touchdowns. He also has 127 tackles and four sacks.
Cornerback Slot is a key position in new Bears head coach Matt Eberflus’ defensive system, with the team previously saying it will do 85 percent of its nickel work, and if Young is healthy, he could lock in the position in 2022.
