Kansas City Chiefs wide receiver Mecole Hardman told NFL Network’s Good Morning Football on Friday that 26-year-old quarterback Patrick Mahomes will help all of the Chiefs’ wide receivers shine in the 2022 season. ( superheng )
The Chiefs agreed to trade Tyreek Hill to the Miami Dolphins this offseason, before the Chiefs signed JuJu Smith-Schuster and Marquez Valdes-Scantling along with a second-round draft pick, Skye Moore, and added Justin Ross as an undrafted free agent. Hardman is confident Mahomes will help the rest of the wide receivers shine this coming season.
”There’s definitely an opportunity,” Hardman said. ”A guy like Tyreek, with a lot of targets, I think there’s a lot of targets around. Obviously we’ve got a good group of players, a good wide receiver, so it’s definitely going to be a good year to come and just enjoy it and take advantage of the opportunity.”
Hardman also revealed that he doesn’t feel pressure to fill the void left by Hill, with the fourth-year wide receiver ready to become a key player on the Chiefs’ offense alongside quarterback and tight end Travis Kelce.
“Offensive team, they’re going to explode,” Hardman said. “You’ve got Patrick Mahomes at the helm, he’s got the keys to the car, and then you’ve got the best wide receiver in the league in Travis Kelce. When you have those two guys and a revamped offensive line that’s going to be great again this year, I think you can rely on those guys to have success. I think with Pat and Trav alone, the offense is going to be great.”
“With pieces of me, Juju, Marquez, I think we’re going to play a big role in the offense to add a little bit of energy. I think you’re going to see a lot more overall offense,” Hardman said.
