The Bears signed former Tampa Bay Buccaneers quarterback Glennon last offseason for $2.5 million guaranteed. Glennon’s one-year deal is worth $18.5 million, $12.5 million more than the base salary of an NFL quarterback in his rookie season.

Meanwhile, Glennon’s style of play is unlikely to fit into new Chicago head coach Matt Nagy’s system, so the Bears are prepared to part ways with the towering quarterback this offseason to ease the burden on backup quarterbacks, including third-stringer Mark Sanchez.

Several quarterbacks are set to become free agents this offseason, including Chase Daniel of the New Orleans Saints, Josh McCown of the New York Jets and Tyler Bray of the Kansas City Chiefs. Although Daniel, 31, doesn’t have much NFL experience, his style of play would be a good fit for the Bears, and he worked with Nagy while serving as the Chiefs’ quarterbacks coach from 2013-15.
