superheng1688 Kansas City Chiefs veteran guard Joe Thuney is set to join the Chicago Bears in the lineup, following LA Rams guard Jonah Jackson.

The Chicago Bears are upgrading their offensive line at the whim of new head coach Ben Johnson by trading All-Pro guard Joe Thuney from the Kansas City Chiefs with a 2026 fourth-round draft pick, according to NFL Network’s Ian Rapoport.  superheng1688

The 32-year-old guard has one year remaining on his current deal, worth $15.5 million, which would save the Chiefs $16 million in salary cap space after agreeing to a trade with Chicago that won’t be officially announced until the league year begins on March 12. 

Thuney is one of the NFL’s top guards, a solid defensive back in the pocket and a good run-getter, but his struggles at left tackle have led Chiefs coach Andy Reid to move the veteran guard to the position to provide stability on the blind side of Patrick Mahomes.

The Bears have a lot of salary cap space, which gives general manager Ryan Pouls the ability to make changes to Johnson’s needs, especially upgrading the offensive line. In addition to trading Thuney from the Chiefs, the Bears also traded veteran guard Jonah Jackson from the LA Rams.

The Chiefs just franchise-tagged 25-year-old guard Trey Smith, so trading Thuney would alleviate some of the financial burden, with Reid potentially moving former 2024 second-round draft pick Kingsley Suamataya to guard next season after a poor start at left tackle.  ( superheng1688 )
