The Jacksonville Jaguars have claimed free agent running back Darrell Henderson, 25, just one day after he was released by the Los Angeles Rams, NFL Network’s Ian Rapoport reported Wednesday. ( superheng1688 )
Henderson, a third-round draft pick in the 2019 draft, played a key role in the Rams’ ground game and was the team’s best running back this season, rushing 70 times for 283 yards in 10 games (seven starts) before being released in a surprising move on Tuesday. But Henderson is moving from the 31st-ranked ground game to the seventh-ranked Jaguars.
The 25-year-old running back could fit nicely into the mix with former 2021 first-round draft pick Travis Etienne to change the tempo of the game and add another option in the middle of the pack for the Jaguars. Over the past three and a half seasons with the Rams, Henderson has rushed 396 times for 1,742 yards (4.4 yards per carry average) and 13 touchdowns.
