The Steelers selected Howard with the 185th overall pick to add the Ohio State alumnus to their quarterback room, joining Mason Rudolph and Skylar Thompson, while they await Rodgers’ long-awaited decision after Pittsburgh owner Art Rooney said he could hear good news about the 41-year-old quarterback soon. 

Howard came in with a national championship history after leading the Buckeyes to the championship in his only season with the team, completing 74 percent of his passes for 630 yards and five touchdowns in the playoffs, impressing Steelers executives.

“You’ll see him in big moments on big possessions, even in the championship game, making momentum plays to end the game,” Steelers offensive coordinator Arthur Smith said of Howard. “Very excited to be working with Will.”
