Sky Italia report that Conte is confident Buongiorno will be available for Sunday’s Serie A clash with Torino at the Stadio Diego Maradona after stepping up training on Tuesday.
Buongiorno has been a regular for Conte since his move from Torino until he suffered a lower spine injury in the winter, which kept him out for more than a month.
The 25-year-old centre-back has missed Napoli’s last three games, sitting on the bench for the entire 1-1 draw at Bologna and then missing games against Empoli and Monza with a muscular injury.
Conte has already lost Juan Jesus, the centre-back who replaced Buongiorno, to a serious injury and is out of action for the rest of the season, so he had to use Rafa Marin alongside Amir Rahmani in the last game at Monza.
