Barcelona boss Hansi Flick has confirmed that both Rafinha and Ronald Araujo will not be available for Thursday’s clash with Osasuna after the pair finished their international careers with Brazil and Uruguay respectively, Diario Sport reported on Wednesday.
‘Rafinha and Araujo will not be in the squad tomorrow. They have just travelled far and they still need to recover,’ Flick said.
The German coach also revealed that Pau Gubarsi will also be out of action against Osasuna, despite the 18-year-old defender recovering from a right ankle injury and returning to training, with Eric Garcia set to partner Inigo Martinez at centre-back.
‘Eric and Inigo will be centre-backs tomorrow. Gubarsi’s injury is not important, but we prefer to give him a rest,’ Flick explained.
Asked about Real Madrid’s previous demands for a new fixture, Flick replied: ‘We are Barça, not Real Madrid, and I am very proud that we are Barça.
Flick also spoke about the players who played in extra time in the UEFA Nations League, saying: ‘Today I did not see any difference in training. We have to manage the playing time of the players.
