The 28-year-old is contracted to Anfield until 2027 and the club are reluctant to let him go on a free transfer in the final year of his current deal.
Diaz has been linked with a number of European clubs, most notably Barcelona, as well as clubs in the Saudi Pro League.
The Colombian has said he is happy at Anfield, but he is one of the lowest-paid players on the club’s wage bill, currently on £55,000-a-week – almost seven times less than the club’s top earner, Mohamed Salah (£350,000-a-week).
