Real Madrid had more chances to attack and had chances to take the lead through Kylian Mbappe and Arda Güler, but were unable to find the back of the net.

In the 43rd minute, Los Blancos took a 1-0 lead when a Leganes player dribbled the ball in front of his own penalty area, causing Vinicius Junior to steal the ball and break into the penalty area on the right before crossing to the far post for Kylian Mbappe to shoot from close range into the net.

In the second half, in the 66th minute, Real Madrid extended their lead to 2-0 when they got a free kick in front of the penalty area, leaning towards the left. They played a short kick to Arda Güler who had already lost the ball. Federico Valverde ran in and hit the back of his right foot through the broken wall into the goal.

The visitors extended their lead to 3-0 in the 85th minute when a corner kick was cleared and Brahim Diaz spun and fired a right-footed shot from the edge of the area that deflected off a home defender and bounced off the crossbar, before Jude Bellingham headed home.
