The LA Rams are looking to replace their quarterback by trading Matthew Stephard from the Detroit Lions, but will need to find a way to offload former draft pick Jared Goff. The first of the class of 2016, according to a report from ESPN last Saturday.  ( superheng1688  )

Goff just signed a four-year, $134 million contract with $110 million guaranteed. During the 2019 off-season, it was unclear what they would do with the 26-year-old quarterback in order to trade Stefan from the Lions. 

Cutting Goff would leave the Rams with $65.2 million in dead space in the salary cap. But if the 26-year-old quarterback were traded, the loss would be just $22.2 million. After making a big deal in the summer of 2019 after Goff led the team to the Super Bowl.

Brad Holmes, the new general manager of the Lions, is familiar with the Rams’ salary cap situation, having been an executive with the Rams for a long time before being brought in to take over as GM of the Detroit Lions. during this month of January 

Rams general manager Les Snead admitted earlier this week that getting over the huge amount of money invested in Goff won’t be easy. But he emphasizes that anything is possible if one wants to surpass the former first draft pick.
