Uruguay midfielder Federico Valverde has confirmed that Luis Suarez’s comments about Marcelo Bielsa were true, after the 37-year-old claimed the Argentine coach was too strict during the national team’s training camp, Relevo reported on Tuesday. 

Luis Suarez announced his international retirement after his final game in September, but the 37-year-old forward revealed Bielsa had imposed strict rules by not allowing his players to greet fans or national team officials.

‘At the Celeste complex, staff are not allowed to walk past, greet or even eat with us. They have to fend for themselves even through the doors they have to enter. It breaks my heart that they are living in a complex like this now,’ the 37-year-old forward said.

In an interview with Valverde, Luis Suarez has been backed up by Valverde, with the 26-year-old midfielder confirming that the 37-year-old’s words were true and that they happened at the Celeste Complex. 

‘What Luis Suarez says is all true. He never lies and never says things that are not true. He never exaggerates. He says it as it is. For me, and like the other quotes, I say it in the dressing room, talking as a team, as we always have, and improving ourselves,’ Valverde said. ( thaisiambet )
